THE new cyber security accreditation scheme introduced by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills has been awarded to Cardinus Risk Management.

Cyber Essentials has been developed by the government and industry to provide a clear statement of the controls organisations should implement to mitigate the risk from internet-based threats. It offers a mechanism for organisations to demonstrate to customers, investors, insurers and others that they have taken these precautions. The government believes that implementing these measures can significantly reduce an organisation’s vulnerability.

Barbara Snape, IT and operations director at Cardinus, said, “Naturally, I am delighted that we have passed the necessary steps to achieve the government’s Cyber Essentials scheme. Risk management is the fundamental starting point for organisations to take action to protect their information and as we are in the business of risk management we seek every opportunity to have our systems checked and endorsed.”

Since October 2014 the government has required that all suppliers bidding for contracts that handle certain sensitive and personal information be Cyber Essentials compliant.
